Early Development: this game is a work in process and is still in early development. As the game develops so too will the mechanics and overall design so don't consider these as final design decisions.
Ship Design
You can use many different parts to build spaceships. The parts can have different energy costs, prices and weights that affect gameplay besides the obvious. Some parts have different attack damage points or defense points or different utility.
Combat Strategy
Positioning: Close/Long Range
Some ships perform better at a long range and the ship must do everything to maintain its positioning.
Some ships perform better at close range and must do everything to close in the range between the ships.
Maneuverability: Speed vs Agility
Some ships are faster. Some ships are more maneuverable than others. Some can evade easier weapons. Some parts weigh more than others, some parts need more energy than others.
Battle Arena
There is nothing in space except other spaceships and asteroids.
The arena is a 1,000-5,000 km huge asteroid. Along with smaller orbiting rocks. All procedurally generated. There could also be remnants and debris of other space stations and spaceships.
Players start by burning towards the asteroid which looks rather small until you get close to it. Each player starts from the opposite side.
